Addiction Treatment Therapies

Psychotherapy in Addiction Treatment
Psychotherapy, or ‘talking treatment’ as it is sometimes called, includes a wide range of treatment techniques to treat psychological problems and some psychiatric disorders. Psychotherapy remains one of the most effective treatments for addictions, depression and anxiety.

While there are many types of psychotherapy practiced, all psychotherapists utilize the relationship between client and therapist as the vehicle for transformation. A therapeutically beneficial interaction is one where mutual trust exists and where the goal of treatment is to ultimately help a client change destructive or unhealthy behaviors, thoughts and emotions so that their quality of life is improved.

At A Center for Addiction Recovery, psychotherapy plays an important role in the healing process. For this reason, we only employ highly experienced and fully qualified therapists. Not only are our therapists innovative, creative and dynamic, they are also committed to working from a supportive, compassionate and respectful stance, where each client is encouraged to change and grow in his or her own unique way.

Family Therapy in Addiction Treatment
Besides treating our client who are struggling with an addiction, it is equally important to work positively with the support of the family and loved ones. Our Family Recovery programs have been designed to enhance the quality of our client’s relationships with their families, friends and significant other. Our sessions provide family members with  a forum to learn positive communications skills and address chronic issues and concerns with the guidance of a professional mediator.

Trauma Therapy in Addiction Treatment
Also know as Rapid Trauma Resolution Therapy, Trauma Therapy is utilized if the client’s recovery is affected by a past trauma. Geared to clear troubling memories through cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and group therapy, individuals will be taught techniques to help them with situations in the real world that may trigger relapse.

Relapse Prevention Therapy

In Relapse Prevention Therapy a client learns mindfulness, how to identify triggers, manage sober time and develop a solid foundation for a successful recovery.

Chiropractic Care, Detox Massage Therapy and Yoga  in Addiction Treatment

Regardless of the addiction been treated and amount of stay (30-90 days), chiropractic care, detox massage and yoga are all treatment services which aids in the patient detoxification/treatment process. It does so by supporting the main organs of elimination in the body, speeding the body’s ability to rid itself of toxins. The combination of these treatments have been clinically reported to improve mental clarity and ability to focus. It also provides the patient with a sense of calmness and serenity, therefore creating a greater receptivity to counseling  and decreased the instances of clients’ needing medications.

Cross Fitting/ Personal Training to Help the Body’s Restore Itself to Health

Physical training is an important component of our therapeutic programs at A Center for Addiction Recovery, as many interrelationships exist between bodily systems and mental and emotional states.

At A Center for Addiction Recovery, we provide personal training with fully qualified personal trainers. Our personal trainers are not ‘bootcamp’ instructors who will push you beyond your limitations. Personal training at A Center for Addiction Recovery is always undertaken with caution and only after a detailed assessment of your physical abilities. We strive to avoid injury and we will always seek to increase your fitness levels slowly and with care.

Personal training at A Center for Addiction Recovery may include a combination of both cardio-vascular exercise as well as resistance training with weights.

Art Therapy in Addiction Treatment

Art therapy as part of A Center for Addiction Recovery’s treatment is a complementary therapy offered by a certified creative art therapist. Art therapy offers us a unique approach to addiction treatment as it helps clients get in touch with their feelings and use creative expression as an outlet. Art therapy at A Center for Addiction Recovery is used to identify and change the negative thoughts and emotions that are associated with addiction and other mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Research shows that art therapy can improve the sense of well-being by reducing depression and anxiety.

For someone with an addiction or any mental health related issue, art therapy can be a way of breaking through some of the barriers that may be blocking other beneficial therapies offered at the center. Also, Art therapy can be a healing force for the body and the mind in part because the creative process helps release brain chemicals that fight depression, which is a common diagnosis for individuals with addiction problems.

Every time a client creates art, he or she is taking a picture in time. Like a snapshot from a dream, it reveals what you need to know, and it’s yours to keep.

Creative art therapy is a journey of finding out who you are, where you are, what you have, and what you need to get where you want to be in life.

All addiction treatment therapies above are utilized at A Center for Addiction Recovery with the purpose of supporting the individual’s physical, emotional and spiritual recovery. By participating on our traditional and holistic treatment therapies, patients not only have their  cravings, anxiety and sleep disturbances gradually eliminated, but they also improve in program retention by developing an optimistic and cooperative attitude towards the process of recovery.
